Charlie W. Burns

Burns is a queer artist and yogi living in New York with an autoimmune disease. Raised in rural Indiana as a pastor’s daughter, Charlie’s work is an examination of the rules and systems she grew up learning through the body. In movements, paintings, performances, and pyrographs Burns examines bodies to ask “What does it mean to be a man/woman/human?”

Charlie has a BA in English and Studio Art from Hunter College, and owns a yoga/art studio in Midtown, Manhattan.
